After the success of 2015 models of Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Challenger SRT Hellcat models, car enthusiast all over the country have been trying to convince designers to create 2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat model. Their hopes have not been entirely squashed even by RAM CEO Bob Hegbloom who, when asked about this, said “At this time, I would say no.” Clinging to the phrase “at this time”, the rumor mill started turning and have produced several plausible what if variants of RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat 2017 model.
2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat redesign
The truck turned muscle car should have the interior to match its performance. While it may not be as luxurious as some RAM models, it should be very functional, so Uconnect with its 8.4 inches touch screen is a must. The seats will be much deeper, to offset lateral acceleration sliding. The stereo system must be loud enough to overpower monstrous engine noise, probably something like Harmon Kardon 900 watts that can be found in Charger. The steering wheel should reflect sporting nature of the truck, so something with flat bottom can be expected.
From the renders that can be found on the Internet done by what if crowd, 2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat will certainly look the part. With recognizable scoped hood and much lowered body, it should have the look to match the name. Enthusiasts disagree on the choice of the wheel, should they be 22 or 24 inch in diameter.
2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat specs
The engine that has started the whole discussion is the famous 6.2 liter V-8 Hellcat. Delivering staggering 707 horse powers and 650 pounds of torque, it should be able to accelerate 2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat from 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds, which would be an excellent result. Considering that Ram SRT-10, powered by larger 8.4 liter V-10 engine with 500 horse power made it in 5 seconds, it isn’t inconceivable for much more powerful Hellcat to do it in 4.
Torque Flite 8-speed transmission will require Ram to add wheel paddles for gear change and better control. While most likely the power will go to the rear wheels, it isn’t impossible for RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat 2017 to be all wheels powered, especially considering uneven weight distribution. Another option is a manual transmission. Although farfetched, it shouldn’t be completely discarder, since Ram already has it for its heavy duty 3500 series powered by 6.7 liter Cummins engine. Addition of launch control and sport mode to the rotary shifter can also be expected.
To match the 707 horse power beast under the hood, Ram would have to rethink its suspension. The five-link setup with coil springs they recently introduced on their regular models looks like a good start. All that power will need very efficient brakes, with Brembo being the most obvious choice.
2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat price
The RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat 2017 should be released sometime in next, 2016 year. Challenger and Charger Hellcat version cost some $15,000 over their SRT counterparts. Considering Ram pricing list, 2017 RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat should cost about $55,000.
