The new Ford Ranger feature somewhat unordinary exterior design for a pickup trick and will resemble classical road cars. Don’t be fooled, though, since the new Ranger will be well built and equipped for the off-road adventures and other pickup stuff that pickups do – lift and pull heavy load. It will feature sportier and sleeker lines, powerful engines, comfortable interior and to top it all off, it looks like it is going to be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant near Detroit, which would mean that the new 2017 Ford Ranger will be sold on the US market, as well. The Ranger is already being sold in nearly 200 markets world wide, with good success.
Powertrain and Performance of new 2017 Ford Ranger
The new Ford Ranger will feature three engine options to choose from. Starting with the least powerful option, this engine will be a 2.2-liter inline TDCi Duratorq engine, that will be able to produce 158 horsepower and a peak torque output of 385 Nm. The fuel efficiency of this engine will be improved by almost 22 percent, which is a great result. This engine will need to consume 6.5 liters of fuel per 100 km, an equivalent to 43.5 miles per gallon, with a total of 171 grams per kilometer of CO2 emissions – a vast improvement over previous 7.8 liters per 100 km ( 36.2 mpg ) and 206 g/km of CO2 emissions. A slightly more powerful variant will be a 2.5-liter direct injected Duratec engine, capable of producing 163 horsepower, with a maximum torque output of around 225 Nm.
The most powerful engine featured in the new 2017 Ford Ranger will be a 3.2-liter five-cylinder TDCi engine, capable of producing more than enough 197 horsepower and a peak torque output of 470 Nm. This engine will feature improvements in the fuel economy department, as well and it will be reduced roughly by 18 percent, which, translated in numbers will be 21 miles per gallon in the city and solid 30 mpg on the highway. All three engines will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission system. The rumors stated that the hybrid variant of the new Ranger will be available, as well. The underpinning engine of the hybrid configuration is said to be a 2.3-liter Eco-boost unit, paired with two electric motors, which may reduce the fuel consumption even further. As far as the drive configuration is concerned, the new Ranger will offer both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive as options. The maximum towing capability of the new Ranger is rated at 3,500 kg, with a peak payload capacity of 1,260 kg.

Exterior-wise, the new Ranger will feature a more aggressive and muscular look. At the front, chromium, high-resistant steel and aluminum materials are not spared, as there will be many chromium trims. Large and massive front grille will take up most of the space at the front and will resemble the one found on much larger trucks. Headlights feature boomerang-like shape and are fused with the grille. Fog lights are similarly designed as the headlights and are mounted at each side of the massive front bumper.

The interior will be more luxurious than ever before, with plenty of head and legroom for the driver, front and read passengers. The standard equipment will include electric-powered front seats, cloth upholstery, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, satellite navigation, 8-inch LCD touchscreen with infotainment system automatic air conditioning system and many more. The abundance of safety features will be present, as well and some of them are – lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, forward alert, traffic sign recognition, front and read par assist, rear-view camera, to name a few.
2017 Ranger Price
The starting price point for the most basic version of the new Ranger is around $54,390. The price will range up to $63,140 for the most powerful XL Plus trim level, that features the top of the line engine.
