Cars Reviews » 2017 » 2017 Buick Grand National GNX, Concept, Pictures
2017 Buick Grand National price, release date, specs – The Grand National is one of the best known Buick cars ever made and many people would love for a new model. However, the car has ceased production a very long time ago so it was only normal for the people to go crazy when a dealer released a statement back in November 2014 that the car was actually going to be made. They later dismissed that theory but it seems the car could actually come on the market in the near future, especially now when Buick are trying to become a top tier luxury car manufacturer. Unlike early rumors, it seems that the new Buick Grand National 2017 will not be using the same platform as the Regal but rather it would use the same rear wheel drive Alpha platform of the Cadillac ATS.

This means an entire new car or a modified version of the ATS which would make the Grand National really interesting indeed. The release date is unknown at this point in time but we are pretty sure that the concept is going to be revealed later this year while the production car will come some time at the end of 2016. Its price would likely be similar, but slightly lower, than that of the ATS which means that a base model would cost around $35,000 while a premium version would likely go way past $60,000.
New Buick Grand National 2017 Changes
Inside the cabin the new Buick Grand National 2017 is going to be unique among all the other Buick cars on the market because it will actually be the fist car Buick will design from scratch in a very long time. We expect a very upmarket interior with standard leather upholstery, sport seats which will perfectly fit the Grand National or even the GNX names, a lot of aluminum or even carbon fiber accents as well as all the technology Buick has to offer such as a new infotainment system, electric front seats with heating and ventilation, dual zone climate control and many more.
The 2017 Buick Grand National exterior will very likely be similar in size to that of the Cadillac ATS. However, everything else is going to be new and most likely in line with the other Buick models. The front end will feature the usual chromed grilled with two big LED and HID headlights alongside it. The back will be quite aggressive and with the help of the sloping roof-line, the car will look more like a coupe rather than a limousine. The GNX on the other hand would make use of a more aggressive body kit, bigger wheels and even a quad-exhaust system.
2017 Buick Grand National
Engine wise, the 2017 Buick Grand National is likely going to make use of three different engines. The base model will likely get a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline 4 with 270 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, similar to that of the Camaro while the more premium version will likely make use of a naturally aspirated 3.6 liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Both of these would be rear wheel drive with a possible all wheel drive system being offered as an option. The only transmission choice would likely be an 8 speed automatic while later in its life it will also receive the 10 speed automatic GM is currently developing.
The GNX on the other hand would make use of the same engine as the ATS-V, but with slightly less power. This 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged V6 could make up to 400 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque and it would be the perfect alternative to all those European sports sedans out there. The 2017 Buick Grand National engine would use a similar transmission to the other two but this time only with a rear wheel drive system which would make use as standard of a limited slip differential which could be proven very helpful during high speed driving.
Here is a reminder just how astonishing Grand National was:
