Cars Reviews » 2016 » 2016 Toyota Sequoia price, specs, redesign
The 2016 Toyota Sequoia is quite a good choice for people who have a large family but want something more than just a minivan. It is spacious, it has one of the biggest luggage compartments among any other crossover and on top of that it is quite good in off-road as well. However, despite Toyota’s intention of completely overhauling this full size crossover back in 2013, they decided to stick with the same design and it seems that the new Toyota Sequoia 2016 is going to be the all needed update which is going to include a new design, upgraded internals as well as a new interior which should allow it to compete once again in its class.
2016 Toyota Sequoia price
The $45,000 base price is likely going to remain unchanged for this model as well and we have to say that it is a good price, especially since most of its competitors are more expensive. The best part about the 2016 Toyota Sequoia is that the body-on-frame chassis construction is going to be kept which is great news because it means it will be just as capable as before during rough weather or during off-road use. However, this time it will use the same chassis as the new Tundra, meaning it will be lighter and more durable, so the tow rating will also increase from the current 7,400 pounds to more than 9,000 pounds, making it the perfect towing vehicle out there.
New Toyota Sequoia 2016 specs
Engine wise, the new Toyota Sequoia 2016 will likely keep the old 5.7 liter naturally aspirated V8 for a couple more years. This will continue to make 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque which is quite impressive, especially considering its price. The smaller 4.6 liter naturally aspirated V8 with 310 horsepower and 327 lb-ft of torque is also possibly going to return for the US market, but only on the base models. This full-size SUV will continue to use the same 6 speed automatic as before and the same standard all wheel drive system as the Land Cruiser. However, in the near future there are rumors about an upcoming 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6 and a new 8 speed automatic, both of which would also be available on the Tundra and the Land Cruiser. This combination would allow Toyota to compete from the same level with all the major manufacturers on the market.
2016 Toyota Sequoia redesign
The exterior of the 2016 Toyota Sequoia is currently unknown at this point and the only spied model was heavily camouflaged, so unfortunately very little details could be taken out of that pictures. However, it seems that the front end is going to be boxier than before which could also mean that the new model will carry over pretty much unchanged the same front end as that of the Tundra with the big chromed grille and the slim headlights which make it look wider than it is. The back of the car on the other hand will be carried over mostly unchanged with only different LED tail lights as well as different tailpipes. There are eight 2016 Toyota Sequoia colors available: Super White, Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Black, Sizzling Crimson Mica, Sandy Beach Metallic, Pyrite Mica and Blizzard Pearl available only with Platinum trim level.
The interior of the new Toyota Sequoia 2016 will also be upgraded with the newest technologies currently available on the market, meaning the car will get things such as a standard infotainment and satellite navigation system with an app environment which will likely be based on the Android Operating System as well as a brand new surround audio system. Just like before, the 2016 Toyota Sequoia will provide enough room for up to eight people and their luggage. The leather upholstery will now be available as standard while the middle row of seats will receive tablet-holders as well as a sliding mechanism which will also make the access to the rear seats much easier.
