A concept version of Infiniti’s next-generation 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe was unveiled at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. It features an impressive design which is obviously influenced by the Infiniti Q80 model, unveiled at the 2014 Paris Auto Show. By the words of the chief of design for all Nissan brands, Shiro Nakamura, the Infiniti Q60 2016 will compete with the BMW 4-Series but will be slightly larger.
2016 Infiniti Q60 Coupe redesign
Exterior of 2016 Infiniti Q60
The 2016 Infiniti Q60 is basically the G coupe, which had the last total redesign back in 2008. The new Q60 will have a familiar shape, but with some exciting new improvements. These include well-defined, muscular contours and short overhangs. There will also be a vertical front fender vent, as well as the interesting C-pillar design and attractive 21-inch wheels.
2016 Infiniti Q60 Interior
The same sporty theme of the exterior continues on the inside as well. There will be a 2+2 layout and a handcrafted, luxurious vibe. The seats will be leather upholstered, and as far as the rest of the cabin goes, Alcantra and carbon fiber accents will accentuate the vehicle’s performance edge. The driver will be able to control many of the car’s functions through a touchscreen and the Infiniti InTuition system, which is also able to recognize the vehicle’s key and to prepare the vehicle settings for up to 4 different drivers, including preferences for driving position, heating and cooling, audio, navigation, and telematics.
Infiniti Q60 2016 specs
Considering the Infiniti’s current strategy, it will only make sense that the Infiniti Q60 2016 will inherit the current coupe’s engine. The 3.0-liter V-6 unit will have a little more spiced up performances for the redesigned model. Is the Q60 also receiving the Q50’s hybrid engine is unknown for now, but it would not be a surprise if this. With its energetic 3.0-liter V-6, and a full of torque electric motor and good fuel economy, the Q60 Hybrid should be quite a good news for the customers looking for performance without taking too many visits to the gas station. The specs are not announced yet and we are expecting around 550 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque when paired with hybrid system. That numbers already puts the Q60 in front of the BMW 435i.
2016 Infiniti Q60 price and release date
Considering that the current price for the Q50 is around $41,000 and with the upgraded materials and higher levels of performance, expected price of the Infiniti Q60 2016 should be just under $43,000. Main rivals will be the Audi A5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, and Lexus RC Cadillac ATS Coupe. The new 2016 Infiniti Q60 is expected to be available at dealers at the end of this year or at the beginning of the 2016.
