The Nissan Titan has been released last year and even though it has been criticized as being far too close to the F-150 in terms of design, the truck actually managed to make quite a few fans out there thanks to its diesel engine and the fact it has been designed and it is being built inside the United States. In order to make the truck more appealing to a broader audience, a couple of months ago they showcased the 2017 Nissan Titan Warrior, at first just a concept truck which might see the light of day as a production model considering that it managed to get a lot of positive critiques about it.

2017 Nissan Titan Warrior Price and Release date

Just like with its future rival, the Titan Warrior is based on the same chassis as the regular Titan xD but its running gear has been completely overhauled while most of the designed has been beefed up in order to look like a true off-road machine. The official release date or even the asking price are still unknown mostly because the truck was just a concept until a few weeks ago when an insider said that the truck is going to be built. We expect it to hit the market some time in the early 2017, just in time to compete with the new Raptor. The price will likely be higher than that of the Raptor which is going to retail for roughly $50,000 but this is to be expected considering that the Titan will be using a tougher chassis and a much more impressive engine.

Engine and performance of 2017 Nissan Titan Warrior

Unlike its main rival though, the 2017 Nissan Titan Warrior will not be using a bespoke powertrain but instead Nissan will install the same 5 liter turbocharged V8 diesel provided by Cummins, engine which also powers the regular version. This is quite impressive in its own right at little over 300 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, enough to tow with ease more than 10,000, a lot more than its main competitor. This is also possible thanks to the fact the Warrior is actually using the heavy duty chassis of the Titan XD and not the upcoming light chassis. This should mean that it will be very capable in off-road even in the stock form and it will allow aftermarket companies to heavily modify the trucks with ease.

Exterior and Equipment of Titan Warrior

As standard the Warrior will come with an all new running gear which will very likely be similar to that of the concept truck. This will include new shock absorbents with external reservoirs, stiffer springs, electronically disconnecting anti-roll bars to allow for more flex, beefier brakes, likely smaller 17 inch alloy rims wrapped in large 35 or 37 inch all terrain tires as well as lockable differentials in the front and at the back. The wider track of the concept should be kept for the production vehicle to allow for the wide tires but the quad exhaust at the back as well as the new bed will likely remain just on the concept truck.

The front end on the other hand is very likely going to be used on the production model of the 2017 Nissan Titan Warrior, the part that managed to get all this attention for it. Unlike the regular model, the new front end uses a new bumper with a large aluminum skid-plate which should allow for better approach angle without compromising the looks or even the aerodynamic capabilities of the body. The grille will also be redesigned in order to provide a more muscular look while the marker lights on the hood will be present as the Warrior will be just as wide as a Super Duty truck.

2017 Titan Warrior Nissan Interior

Unlike the concept which is using a very different interior, the production model of the Titan Warrior is very likely going to use pretty much the same style as the regular version. However, the materials as well as the equipment level are going to be different in order to make the truck worth its price, so expect new bucket seats wrapped in leather, likely a new three-spoke steering wheel with aluminum inserts as well as a standard infotainment and navigation unit, additional auxiliary switches as well as heavier duty materials on the floor and on the dashboard to survive the abuse of a true desert runner.
