It wasn’t easy for Honda to etch a name for itself in the hybrid hatch segment but it turned out to be pretty successful although it had Toyota and its Prius breathing down its neck. Even though Honda came into the fight with less fuel-economical engine under the bonnet of the Insight than its major competition, the model enjoyed great popularity among customers probably because it was the least expensive product in its niche. That’s something that hasn’t been changed until today, but still the carmaker decided to tweak the Insight. Amazing fuel economy ratings have always been hallmark for this model and the 2017 Honda Insight will be no less good. The Insight maybe doesn’t look as nearly good as the customers would like, but we personally think that the mind-boggling fuel-economy ratings compensate for everything.

2017 Honda Insight Exterior

The Honda Insight has pretty interesting design. Some people would say that it has odd design since it looks like a minivan even though it belongs to compact sedan segment. Well, the Insight is far from being unattractive. Exterior design is always subjective, but we find the Insight quite attractive, primarily because it is extraordinary. Its 172 inches of length still make it compact. The front end of the vehicle looks like the Accord. The Insight boasts the same pronounced chrome grille which clearly saved the carmaker a lot of money and time. The vehicle still sports the recognizable blue-tinted headlights with LED technology and LED fog lights. It is equipped with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. The overall shape of the vehicle is far from being changed, but the Insight definitely looks more attractive and futuristic due to the new styling elements.

Powering the 2017 Honda Insight is Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system which consists of a 1.3-liter, four-banger engine and a 10-kilowatt electric motor. This represents a pedestrian setup since it delivers 98 horses and 123 pound-feet of torque only. The setup is teamed up with a CVT. It helps the Insight to hit 60 mph in 12.5 seconds; with top speed of 113 mph. Amazing fuel economy ratings make the Insight extremely popular among customers. Namely, the engine promises fuel economy of 41 mpg city and 44 mpg highway.
