2016 Nissan Armada release date, price, specs – The Nissan Armada has been around since 2004 and while you may be lead to believe that in the meantime it received updates and even a facelift, this truck based full-size SUV has been left untouched since it was first launched and it did not received any real upgrades which were essential to make it a worth its money. However, it seems that Nissan finally decided to release a new model because they released a statement which said that the new Nissan Armada 2016 is in the works. It seems that this upcoming model is going to use the same platform as the revised Nissan Titan, so it will likely get the heavy duty chassis as well as a lot of improvements to its engines, running gear and even interior.

It is unclear at this point how much the Armada is going to get from the Titan but it seems that the running gear will be completely revised. It will still get independent suspension all around but this time it will offer better tuned shocks and springs as well as an adaptive mode which will give the car a self leveling feature. On top of that, the new chassis means lightweight materials which should lower its weight by at least a couple hundred pounds. The 2016 Nissan Armada price on the other hand will remain similar to the ongoing model meaning the base model will likely be sold for $40,000 while a fully equipped version will very likely go past $60,000.

New Nissan Armada 2016 redesign

The interior of the new Nissan Armada 2016 is going to be all new and much improved over the one of the current model. The base car will get things such as triple zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, an all new infotainment system with a bigger resolution screen and an easier to use interface as well as more premium materials on the dashboard and door covers. The top end model will retain the DVD/Bluray LCD screens for the rear seats but it will add an even better climate control system, satellite navigation, phone integration and either aluminum or real wood inserts.

The outside of the 2016 Nissan Armada on the other hand is very likely going to be based on that of the new Titan. The front end will be bulkier with a bigger grille and headlights which will make it a bit more aggressive while the usual curve of the roof will finally be gone in the favor of a boxier and more masculine design. These should make the Armada a tougher and more imposing choice for people looking for a more serious crossover.

2016 Nissan Armada specs

Engine wise, the new Nissan Armada 2016 is going to use two new engines. The base model will likely get rid of the already ancient 317 horsepower V8 in the favor of a smaller 3.7 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which has been rumored for quite some time now. This could provide with ease around 370 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, all while offering a 20 to 30% better fuel consumption than the old V8. Just like before, rear wheel drive is going to be standard while an all wheel drive system is always going to be available as an option.

2016 Nissan Armada towing capacity

There are also rumors about the Armada getting the new diesel engine which first debuted on the new Titan. This 5.0 liter turbocharged V8 from Cummins is capable of 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque while using less than even than the V6. This would make the 2016 Nissan Armada a unique choice in its class and certainly one of the best selling SUVs out there. This engine could allow it to tow more than 14,000 pounds with ease. Both engines would use a newly developed 6 speed automatic which would be able to make use of all that torque efficiently.
