The current model of the Traverse crossover SUV has been revised back in 2013 and since then it did not get any cosmetic changes, meaning it looks, and feels, the same as it did nearly three years ago. However, the car has been revised once again back in May 2015 with the 2016 Chevy Traverse which is still unchanged visually from the previous model, but it now features a few pieces of equipment which could be proven very handy while driving it. Unfortunately, it still is one of the oldest Chevrolet cars on the market being first released back in 2008, meaning the running gear is outdated and so is the engine which is powerful but not as fuel efficient as we would like.

So, what else did change on the new Traverse? Well, it received a lot of new safety features which we are going to discuss a bit later as well as a couple of new color options which should make it a bit more interesting to look at. The car is already available for order but the deliveries will only start in the fall of this year. The 2016 Chevy Traverse price did not change a bit, meaning the base model can be had for $32,000 while a fully equipped one will not go much over $45,000 which still is a great price, especially since it can carry up to eight people in perfect comfort and their luggage.

2016 Chevy Traverse towing capacity, specs

Engine wise, the new Chevy Traverse 2016 still comes with the same dated 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 with 281 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque while the car equipped with the dual exhaust system will bump that to 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Front wheel drive still is a standard feature and all wheel drive is available as an option. In any case, the car will not get much over 20 MPG on average which is low, especially since there are some cars in its class which can break the 25 MPG on average mark. However, the Traverse shines at relaxed driving which is also helped by its 6 speed automatic gearbox which is silky smooth. In the near future, it should receive the 325 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 from the Camaro which is based on this model but it does offer better fuel efficiency and even more power, a really nice upgrade over the current model. On top of that, a new 9 speed automatic gearbox is also expected to be introduced some time at the end of the year.

New Chevy Traverse 2016 interior changes

The new Chevy Traverse 2016 interior is quite similar in terms of design to the previous model. However, there is quite a bit of new equipment which should make it a much better choice than before. Firstly, there is now as standard a 4G LTE and Wi-Fi system which can be proven really useful, especially on long journeys. On top of that, the car will come as standard with a new leather and driver confidence package, two universal tablet holders for the rear seats as well as a lot of new safety features such as lane-keep assist, new power adjusted mirrors with side-blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert as well as new front seats with memory package.

The exterior of the new 2016 Chevy Traverse is a bit more disappointing because the car remained pretty much unchanged over the previous model. The only real differences being the two new colors, Mosaic Black Metallic and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat as well as two new 20 inch wheels options, both of which will be available even on the base model. We would hope that in the near future the crossover SUV will receive the same design scheme as the newest Chevrolet cars which would certainly make it our favorite in its class.
