Chevrolet introduced its mid sized family sedan way back in 1964, and it was initially a trim level of the famous Chevrolet Chevelle. It became a separate model in 1978 and was manufactured until 1983. It was the year when Chevrolet decided to halt the production line of the popular model and it wasn’t restarted until 1997, when Chevrolet reintroduced the Malibu to the public yet again. Eight generations of the Malibu have been made in total, including the pre-1997 models, as well. The eighth generation was being made from 2013 until 2015, when the ninth generation of the Malibu model have been introduced. Today we are looking at the all new 2016 Chevy Malibu, bringing many improvements. It will be based on the improved Global Epsilon II platform and, by looking at the specs, the competition (Mazda 6 and Honda Accord) will surely have a tough opponent.

As stated before, the new Malibu will be based on the new Global Epsilon II platform. Design wise, the new model won’t differ much compared to its predecessor. At the front, it will feature slightly restyled headlights, which are now slightly elongated, making them more elegant than before. The front grill is still splinted in two parts, with the Chevy logo positioned at the center of the stripe. The front bumper received a more muscular design and a wider air intake opening at the bottom. The fog lights are placed at each side of the bumper, featuring a slight change in the design, compared to the previous model.

2016 Chevy Malibu Pricing

The new Malibu is scheduled to hit the sales in the last quarter of 2015. There is still plenty of time until that, but the price point for the basic model is well known – it will be around $24,000. Given the price of the competition, the new 2016 Chevy Malibu will have a good chance of being the best bang for the buck in the class.
