The Chevrolet Camaro is possibly one of the most well known muscle cars in the world. It began its franchise way back on September 29, 1966 and was marketed and sold as a 1967 year model. Its main competitor back then and today as well was the equally famous Ford Mustang. The Camaro was built upon the same platform as the 1967 Pontiac Firebird. Since its first introduction, four generation of the popular model have been made until the production ended in 2002. The fifth generation Camaro had seen the light of day on March 2009, which was a 2010 year model. The fifth gen Camaro was built upon the Zeta platform. Today, we’re looking at the all new sixth generation Camaro, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, that uses the new Alpha platform. The official unveiling was done on May 16th, at the 2015 Detroit Car Show.

Exterior and Interior of 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

The look of the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is outstanding to say the least. It features a far more aggressive and powerful design concept than ever before, a true head-turner. The front is missing a full blooded grille, but instead it features an extremely large air intake opening, stretching across the entire front bumper. The headlights now feature a sharper, edgier design with sleek lines and a daytime LED pattern following the bottom line of the headlights. The back of the car is consistent with the aggressiveness of the front, with the sharp, rectangular taillights, featuring LED pattern circumcising the entire contour of the taillights. The rear bumper features set of quad exhaust pipes in two by two configuration, positioned at the bottom of the rear bumper. The interior is equally interesting, with lots of LED lighting. It will feature a minimalist design, with few basic switches and controls, mostly positioned at the center, beneath the LCD touchscreen.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Engine

As far as the engine options are concerned, several versions are at play, but definite information is yet to be revealed. So far, we know that three variations of powerful units will be hidden under the hood of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Starting from the least powerful one, it will be a 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine, that features 250 hp and a maximum torque output of 265 lb ft, which is amazing given the fact that it is just a 4 cylinder engine. This engine is developed for the purpose of fuel saving, as its fuel consumption is around 40 percent lower than the 3.6 liter V6, which will be mentioned next. The second engine option will include a 3.6 liter V6, capable of delivering 305 horsepower and which outputs 270 lb ft of torque. True fans await 2016 Chevrolet Camaro only to see its most powerful engine in action – the 6.2 liter V8 engine, that delivers 460 horses, with a 500 lb ft of maximum torque. The new Chevrolet Camaro will have a top speed of 155 mph, with a capability of hitting 62 mph in just 5 seconds which is a remarkable result, given the fact that this is, after all, a muscle car and not a super car.

Chevrolet Camaro 2016 Pricing

2016 Chevrolet Camaro had its debut at the Detroit Belle Isle Park back in May this year, and the starting prices for the base model will be around $25,000. Given the astounding specifications, engines, design and tech included, the price is more than fair and it will surely give the competition a hard time catching up with it.
