The 2016 BMW 7-Series has been released back on the 10th of June 2015 at BMW’s headquarters in Germany. The car has been code named the G11 or the G12 for the long wheelbase version and it is a completely new model with a revised platform and a lot of upgrades, both under its skin and above it. However, despite the fact it has already been released, the new BMW 7-Series 2016 has just started production so it will not be available for sale for the next couple of months. The deliveries should start later this year and the car should be available for a base price of around $75,000 which actually makes it the most affordable full size luxury sedan on the market which is quite impressive.

The platform it rides on has been completely overhauled by BMW and it is now shared with all the other smaller models in the range such as the 3 or 5 Series. However, on the 7 Series, the platform has been reinforced with carbon fiber in key areas and it has been built mostly out of aluminum, so it is at least 5% lighter than before as well as much stronger. This should improve its ride quality and make the car safer in case of a crash.

Just like with some of its competitors, the new 2016 BMW 7-Series also features front facing cameras and a radar which not only detect a potential crash but these also allow the adaptive suspension system to prepare the car for the road ahead which would make it feel more like a cloud than anything else.

The new 2016 BMW 7 Series is also the first model ever of the 7 Series to receive an M model. The upcoming 2016 M7 will make use of the same 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine from the long wheelbase model. However, it will be tuned by the people from BMW’s M division, so it will make well over 650 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque which should be just enough to allow the car to compete with the S Class AMG as well as with the Panamera Turbo.

2016 BMW 7-Series redesign

The exterior of the new BMW 7-Series 2016 is more than impressive and not because it is all new but because BMW managed to keep the soul of the car untouched while improving it so it does look like a new car. The front end is more subtle with the new headlights which are connected by the front grille while from the profile it does look more athletic. Inside the cabin of the 2016 BMW 7-Series the biggest change over the previous model is the all new iDrive system which has been considerably improved so it now offers the best experience yet. There is a new touch screen which is bigger and covered in glass while the iDrive system will also allow for gesture input, meaning the driver or its passengers will be able to swipe through the air and the system will respond accordingly thanks to a laser motion tracking system.
