The 2016 BMW 3-Series, both sedan and wagon variants, will go have a mid-cycle facelift. The intensity of the changes, will not be that big. The majority of exterior changes will be made on the front and rear end, while the interior will get some new trims. This is no surprise at all, since the BMW Company usually makes small refreshments on the BMW 3-Series 2016 during facelifts.

As we already mentioned, the changes that will be included in the new BMW 3-Series 2016 will mostly be made on the front and rear end of the car. At the front end, it will have a redesigned bumper and a headlight upgrade, while the rear end will also go through some refreshment, which will slightly change the overall appearance of the upcoming 3-Series models. There will also be a new trim inside the new BMW 3-Series, while other changes include features upgrade. Most important and most interesting news, concerning the interior, are the news of the improved infotainment system. Both sedan and wagon variants will be included in the offer, while the refreshments will be basically the same for both body styles. Beside some trim naming changes, sedans will come in 320i, while the 328i could be replaced with a 330i, the 328d, 335i will be replaced with a 340i model, and ActiveHybrid 3 variants. The 2016 BMW 3-Series wagon comes in 328i xDrive and 328d xDrive trims, but the 328i could be replaced with a 330i, just like the sedan model.

Under the hood of the 2016 BMW 3-series new engines will be placed, from the well known BMW’s lineup. The additions include 2 new engines, both 4 and 6-cylinder. The power units will be based on the modular design, and will include a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. Both will be additionally improved with fuel-injection, Variable Valve Timing and turbocharging technologies. Beside the breathtaking new performance, BMW also considered the fuel economy segment of its 3-Series, which is the reason why they offered a hybrid variant. The BMW 3-Series 2016 Plug-in Hybrid model will come as a combination of 4-cylinder engine and electric motor, and it will be able of producing 245 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. BMW will also keep its current diesel engine, the 2.0-liter diesel 4-cylinder, capable of pumping out 180 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. RWD and AWD will continue to be options for the 2016 model year.

BMW 3-Series 2016 release date and price

The changes should not cause any major price increase, and the base price for BMW 3-Series 2016 sedan is expected to be around $34,000, the base wagon should be around $43,000, while the Hybrid variant should be priced at $51,000. The release date of the 2016 BMW 3-Series release date is expected to be by the end of this year, while the cars should be available at dealers at the beginning of the 2016.
